Identity

Identity

We support research, institutions, and public initiatives that shape a modern understanding of Ukrainian identity.

We understand identity as the shared characteristics and experiences that define Ukrainians as both a community and a political nation. It combines the continuity of historical traditions with the dynamics of contemporary social interaction — among Ukrainians themselves and in their interactions with other communities, where identity is expressed, reinterpreted, and continually reshaped.

Identity is the foundation of societal transformation. It strengthens social cohesion, reduces internal divisions, and creates the conditions for trust and collaboration..

The program aims to strengthen a modern, cohesive, and open Ukrainian identity — one that resonates with Ukrainians both in Ukraine and abroad, while remaining recognizable and understood around the world. We support research, public communication, and initiatives that shape modern discourse on Ukrainian identity, connect Ukrainians across borders, and contribute to the country’s cultural and symbolic capital.
